Yukon, OK – Congressman Frank Lucas, along with astronauts aboard the International Space Station, spoke virtually to high school students in Oklahoma.

NASA astronauts Steve Bowen and Frank Rubio answered pre-recorded questions from students in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. The event, hosted by Kingfisher High School, allowed students to express their curiosity of daily life in space and learn firsthand from astronauts on mission.

U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas, Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, gave opening and closing remarks. You can watch the entire session here or by clicking on the image below.

Rep. Lucas’s Remarks:
Opening Remarks: Hi, I’m Frank Lucas, Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, and I am proud to represent Kingfisher in Congress. And I am excited that our students have the chance to ask questions about life aboard the International Space Station. Conversations like this spark an interest in the STEM field that can last a lifetime. This is a very exciting time in our nation’s space program as the Artemis missions begin our journey back to the Moon and then onto Mars. Who knows? Maybe one of the students we hear from today will land on Mars. Let’s dream big. Now, let’s get to the first question.

Closing Remarks: I’d like to thank our students for taking part in this event today, and for asking those insightful questions. And I’d like to thank NASA for giving the students of Kingfisher the chance to express their curiosity and learn firsthand from astronauts about life in space. I encourage you keep that sense of curiosity and keep learning throughout your lives.
