Cheyenne, OK – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement:

“Today our Nation mourns the heartbreaking loss of American service members in Afghanistan. My prayers go out to the American and Afghan victims who were injured and the families of those who were killed. U.S. service members have and continue to put duty, honor, and their country at the forefront of their minds while executing the mission at hand: Evacuating American and Afghan personnel in the face of terror and chaos.

“The hurried withdrawal from Afghanistan has tragically developed into a worsening security and humanitarian crisis. I remain extremely disappointed by President Biden’s decision to hastily withdrawal and his Administration’s assessment of implications following such withdrawal. As Congress awaits more details, the conditions in Kabul prove the United States cannot and must not rely on the Taliban to keep Americans safe.

“The prayers of all Americans are with those who gave their last full measure of devotion, their loved ones, and those who remain in harm’s way. May God bless America and may God bless our troops.”
