Lucas Statement on Presidential Address on Iranian Aggression

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement on last night’s Iranian missile strike on Iraqi bases housing U.S. military and President Trump’s national address this morning:

“I’m extremely thankful no Americans were injured in last night’s attacks on Iraqi bases housing U.S. military personnel. My thoughts and prayers are with the incredibly courageous men and women who stand in harm’s way and their families who serve at home.

As the President expressed in his address to the nation this morning, the United States’ strength comes through peace. As the United States stands committed to a cooperative and peaceful coexistence in the region, it is my hope that Iranian leaders will cease hostilities and end their campaign of terror waged by proxy groups in the region.

I fully support the Trump Administration’s actions applying appropriate and measured economic pressure as well as encouraging the support of our NATO allies in order to hold Iran accountable. There’s no question that it is in the common interest of the American people and our allies around the world that Iran not raise its nuclear arsenal or continue to sponsor terrorist activity.”
