Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement today after voting in favor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Lucas also honored those who will participants in tomorrow’s March for Life, the largest pro-life gathering in the country.

“Safeguarding the right to life has always been one of my highest priorities as a Congressman. I’m encouraged that one of our first legislative actions in the new Republican majority was passing the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. In doing so, we reaffirmed our commitment to standing up for the right to life of all Americans – born and unborn. As millions of Americans across the country march for the 52nd annual March for Life tomorrow, I’m filled with hope that this movement will never stall.”

Lucas was a cosponsor of H.R. 21, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires appropriate medical care for children who survive abortion procedures and imposes strong criminal penalties for failure to provide such care. Additionally, the bill protects women upon whom abortions have been performed from prosecution.

In the 118th Congress, Lucas received an A+ rating from Susan B. Anthony List for his pro-life record.
