Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement after voting in favor of pro-life legislation on the House floor, including the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act and the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. Lucas also recognized the participants in the 51st annual March for Life, the largest pro-life gathering in the country.

“Throughout my time in Congress, I have always placed the safeguarding of the fundamental right to life as one of my highest priorities. Just this week, I was proud to join my House Republican colleagues in passing the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act and the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act,” said Congressman Frank Lucas. “As we watch hundreds of thousands participate in this year’s March for Life, take time to reflect on all the work accomplished to secure life’s greatest right, and also how much more is still left to be done. I look forward to continuing to support pro-life legislation and always fighting for life.”

BACKGROUND

  • H.R. 6914 – the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act – would require institutions of higher education to disseminate information on the rights of, and accommodations and resources for, pregnant students.
  • H.R. 6918 – the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act – would prohibit the Administration for Children and Families from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing (with respect to certain pregnancy centers) a provision of a proposed rule modifying the standard for a state’s reasonable use of funds under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.
  • Since 1973, hundreds of thousands of pro-life activists gather each year for the March for Life.
