Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023. Lucas supported the legislation.

“One of the most important duties of Congress is to provide for the security of our nation. Today, the House continued its 62-year tradition of passing a bipartisan agreement that supports America’s service men and women and strengthens our national security.

“The National Defense Authorization Act not only focuses investment on the research, development, and procurement of modernized weapons but it continues Congress’ strong support of our service members and retirees. The legislation also rescinds the COVID-19 vaccination mandate amid the Defense Department’s recruiting shortage. To counteract the effects of historic inflation, the National Defense Authorization Act provides a 4.6 percent pay raise for service members and expands benefits for military spouses and families. We owe an immense debt to America’s military men and women and the families who serve supporting them.

“I applaud House Armed Services Committee Republican Leader Mike Rogers for his tireless work helping draft critically important legislation that keeps America safe. But specifically, I’d like to thank and honor Senate Armed Services Republican Leader Jim Inhofe for his decades of service to America and Oklahoma.”
