Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement today after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4350– the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 by a vote of 316-113. Lucas supported the legislation.

“Over the last few months, America has seen the best of our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, and National Guard. Without hesitation, the brave men and women of our Armed Forces answered the call, providing both security and humanitarian assistance across the globe. The United States owes an immeasurable debt to our military for their sacrifices, and in Congress that begins with the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act,” said Congressman Lucas. “For the last 60 years, Congress has reaffirmed its commitment to ensure that our military is properly resourced and equipped to defend our nation and our allies- today the House is one step closer continuing that legacy. Not only does the bill provide the necessary tools, training, and resources needed to defend our country from threatening global adversaries, but it also ensures we are taking care of our servicemembers and their families. With Russia and China rapidly modernizing their militaries and ISIS and the Taliban reclaiming power in the Middle East, Congress must continue to make strong investments in new capabilities and readiness and this bill enables our warfighters to do just that. I’m proud to support the brave men and women of the United States military and, while I don’t support every provision in this bill, I look forward to Congress continuing its work boosting defense spending and preparing our military for tomorrow’s conflicts.”

The Fiscal Year 2022 NDAA authorizes a topline of $778 billion for our military and national security programs at the U.S. Department of Defense.
