Washington, DC – Earlier this week, Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) announced Charley Johnson, of Stillwater High School, as the winner of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for Oklahoma’s Third Congressional District.

Charley’s “Generations” will hang in the U.S. Capitol for a full year, along with other congressional district winners from across the United States.

“I’m thrilled Charley Johnson will represent Oklahoma’s Third District in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. I’m always amazed to see the creative pieces of art put together by such young, talented artists,” said Congressman Lucas. “I know I, and all my fellow Oklahomans, look forward to seeing Charley’s artwork hang in the halls of the Capitol.”

About the Congressional Art Contest

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors An Artistic Discovery, a nationwide competition for high school students interested in the arts and looking for an opportunity to showcase their creativity. The annual contest recognizes and encourages artistic talent of young constituents across the nation, including those living in Oklahoma’s Third Congressional District.

Each district winner’s artwork is displayed for one year in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
