WASHINGTON – Ranking Member Frank Lucas spoke to a group of wheat producers about his cap and trade concerns at an event in Canadian County, Oklahoma earlier this week.  During his visit, Ron Hays of the Oklahoma Farm Report captured Rep. “If you like being cool in the summer, you’re going to be affected.  If you like being warm in the winter, you’re going to be affected.  If you want to go anywhere, you’re going to be affected.

“This is going to affect all of us.

“Chairman Waxman understands that the best way to force you to change your business habits, to change your lifestyle, is to tax you to the point that you have to change your lifestyle.

“What’s the quickest way to reduce those emissions is to reduce energy consumption.  Where does the majority of the exhaust go up the stacks in this country?  It’s from power plants.  It’s oil and gas refineries, yes, it’s factories, so by taxing the cost of energy sufficiently high, they believe they can change your lifestyle,” said Ranking Member Frank Lucas.
