Earlier this year, I announced that the application process for our nation’s service academies had started. As it gets closer to the deadline, I want to remind students interested in serving our nation through the academies to apply.
For years, President Obama and his Administration have been touting that they are for an “all-of-the-above” energy policy. As the president continues to repeat this same rhetoric, it is obvious he is all but for this type of energy approach. Recently, he has made speeches directing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to strengthen existing rules and regulations.
The Obama Administration recently announced that it will delay the implementation of a key piece of its sweeping health care reform; the employer mandate. The mandate would require any employer within the United States with over 50 employees to provide them health insurance or face steep federal penalties.
The month of May has been extremely difficult as tornadoes devastated Oklahoma, claiming the lives of many, causing hundreds of injuries, and destroying thousands of homes. Through these storms, we saw pain and suffering. However; we also saw Oklahomans unite and work together to make the best of a tragic situation.

Recently, it has come to light that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) unfairly targeted conservative individuals and groups who were seeking tax exempt status for their non-profit organizations. This revelation is deeply concerning to me, as well as many other Americans, and we are all simply demanding the facts.
During the most recent district work period, I hosted town hall meetings in Canadian, Creek and Lincoln counties. I enjoyed visiting with constituents at these meetings and gaining knowledge on their interests. As I went from one community to another, constituents voiced concerns on an array of different topics ranging from the U.S.
Recently, the United States House of Representatives passed ‘The Path to Prosperity: A Responsible, Balanced Budget.’ I am encouraged to see the House has put forth a plan that will help balance the federal government’s checkbook, restore financial stability and create jobs in our country.
In my role as a United States Congressman, I have the honor of nominating young men and women from Oklahoma’s Third Congressional District to attend the United States Service Academies. I am pleased to announce the application process for this year’s academies has begun, and I encourage students in my district to apply for this great chance to serve our country.
I am excited to announce the kick-off of this year’s Congressional Art Competition, which is sponsored by the Congressional Art Caucus. The application process has begun and this is a great opportunity for high school students who are interested in art.
